HOW TO COMPLIMENT A GUY

Do you want to know how to compliment a man? What to say to him to show him how much you like him without coming on too strong? You've come to the right place!

How to compliment a guy without looking needy!

Do you want to know how to compliment a guy to really get his attention? There’s a fine line between saying the right things to a guy, and looking like you’re way more into him than he is into you. I often talk about the balance of power in relationships, especially in the attraction phase. This is why I wanted to explore the best way to compliment a man in today’s article for you.

I had a very interesting coaching session last week, and my client brought up one of the most common themes that I deal with regularly. She was explaining that she’s been dating a guy and things had been going well, so she wanted to tell him how he made her feel. Normal reaction, right? Well, she told him that she was falling for him and contrary to what she was expecting, he seemed completely disinterested in her words. Why was that?

Male psychology is very interesting, and there are some important elements to keep in mind when you want to compliment a guy in a way that’s going to hit home for him. If you want to know how to do that, you’ve come to the right place!

Complimenting a guy isn’t as straightforward as it might seem

We live in a society where we’re taught that in order to receive more love, we need to give more love. The concept trickles into the way we compliment each other, but if you’re reading this article right now, you’ve probably noticed it’s not as easy as you may have previously thought.

My client was saying that she didn’t understand why she wasn’t getting much of a reaction from her boyfriend. She was telling him all the kinds of things that she would LOVE to hear from a partner.

The first thing to understand is that in the majority of cases, men respond better to actions than to words. So you could tell him that he’s the greatest, that you’re in love, and that life feels so bright when you’re with him, and he’ll appreciate it, but it won’t necessarily go deeper than that.

They also respond better to compliments about specific things. So my first piece of advice for you is this. If you want to compliment a guy and make it strike a chord, don’t talk about your emotions, talk about what it is about him specifically that makes you appreciate him. The word “because” is one of your biggest assets right now.

For example, instead of telling him that you love him, or that you’ve always dreamed of meeting someone like him, tell him that you love him because because he’s so kind and patient. You love the way that he plays with your niece, and how he takes the time to teach her new games. It shows you what a good person he is. This gives him value, and shows him why he’s special in your eyes. It’s not about telling him that you need him, it’s about you truly thinking he’s something special. Men do have an ego and this is the type of thing that they love.

Or you could tell him things like, “You’re so intelligent. I love spending time with you because I’m always learning new things.” Or why not, “I always have so much fun with you, I never see the time pass. I love how easy it is to enjoy the present moment with you.”

If you can get into the specifics of why you feel the way you do about him, your compliment will mean much more to him. This is how you can build a connection. In addition to giving a good compliment to a man, you’ll show him that you’re paying attention to him and are starting to appreciate him on a deeper level.

How to compliment a man in the best way

Now, a man will also appreciate compliments on his appearance but once again, don’t forget the explanation. You can tell him you find him attractive and you can make it hit home by telling him that you’ve never seen eyes with the same color as his.

You can compliment him on his eyes, his face, his body, his job, his personality… and tell him WHY you like it. I know I’m hammering this in and it probably seems like such a simple concept, but I’ve been a love and relationship coach since 2007 and you’d be surprised at how few women actually do this! The majority of the people I work with prefer to talk about their love, their emotions, and their feelings, but this isn’t what guys want.

We always need to think about what’s going to set you apart. When you people want to think of the best compliments to give a guy, they’ll usually say the same old things, and then it doesn’t feel special anymore.

So I can’t tell you the exact compliment you should give your man, because I don’t know him, but I can put you on the right track.

Think about what made you choose him over anyone else, what sets him apart, what is a unique quality you found in him that maybe you’ve never found in anyone else, what is it about him specifically that helps to build chemistry between you? Is it the fact that he shares your sense of humor? Is it that he appreciates and shares the same interests?

Pay attention to the details. You can compliment him on the way he dresses, because you love how he always chooses the best shirts and knows how to make everything look so good. This way, you can be specific and you might even tell him something he hasn’t heard before. And that means points for you!

In addition to all of these things in regards to how to compliment a guy, don’t forget the importance of body language. It’s another thing that will help you to get closer. Remember to smile at him, touch his arm, and be playful. Tell him he looks good… By the way, all of the tips I’m going over in this article will work whether you want to compliment your boyfriend, or if you want to compliment a man you’re interested at work, at the grocery store, and a bar… anywhere! These types of compliments will go straight to a man’s heart and catch his attention in the best possible way.

Complimenting a man and making it count

You see, it’s not that complicated when you know how to compliment a man and what we respond to. Just remember to be specific, think about what makes him special in your eyes, and tell him. You can use physical touch, a smile and eye contact to make it have even more of an impact.

And one last thing before this article comes to an end.

Be very careful to not compliment a guy TOO much! Men love compliments, but if you do it all the time, your compliments are going to lose their impact. This can lead to the guy either taking them for granted, or feeling like you don’t really mean them.

You got this, ladies. You can show this guy how attracted you are to him, while making him even more attracted to you.

I sincerely wish you all the best,
